Toshiko Nishikawa: Senbazuru October 2010

On December 10th 2010, 1,000 mirrored orbs, which had been suspended for more than a month from the ceiling of the Vilcek Foundation Gallery, were taken gently down and distributed to guests attending the closing reception of Senbazuru, the interactive installation envisioned by Japanese-born artist Toshiko Nishikawa. On hand to pass out these symbols of her perspective of humanity—that we are all connected within the global community—was the artist herself.
