Hibiscus Key Lime Pie
How to make a super-tart Hibiscus Key Lime Pie. Hibiscus flowers bloom from late-summer into the fall. A cool and unusual ingredient to add some variety to your bakes!
Make the base: Combine the butter, sugar, flour, salt, and vanilla until it forms a dough. Flatten the dough into the base of a cake dish and chill for one hour. Make the filling: Mix the *hibiscus puree and lime juice. Add the eggs and sugar and mix. Add the flour and combine. Bake the base at 350°F for 15 minutes. Add the filling. Return to the oven for 20 minutes. Refrigerate before serving.
*Hibiscus puree: Soak dried hibiscus flowers in water overnight. Drain. Feed hibiscus flowers into a juicer. Easy!
