Agua de Jamacia
How to make Agua de Jamaica!
Remove the seeds and stems from the dry hibiscus flowers. Cover the dry flowers with water, add the cinnamon sticks and simmer. Drain and keep the liquid. Sweeten. Strain the liquid through a sieve. Decant. Serve over ice – 1/2 cup hibiscus concentrate to 1/2 cup water.
Optional: Add a splash of lemon.
Also try hibiscus ice-cubes: Soak hibiscus flowers in water overnight. Drain. Add a rehydrated flower to ice cube trays. Fill with water and freeze. Simple – and great for cocktails.
Ingredients
- 1 pack of dry hibiscus flowers
- 4-5 cinnamon sticks
- Sugar
- Optional: a splash of lemon juice
